Prof. Dr. Alpay Azap


President of KLİMİK (Turkish Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) Board of Directors
 
Professor Alpay Azap is a faculty member at the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, Ankara University. 
 
He graduated Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1995 and started with his specialty education in the same university at the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology the same year. Right after finishing his specialty degree in 2000, he was appointed as a specialist at Başkent University and Ankara University for two and four years, respectively. He was awarded with the title of associate professor in 2006 and full professor in 2011.
 
He is a member of Turkish Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (KLİMİK),  The European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), Turkish Society of Hematology and Turkish Society of Febrile Neutropenia, and has been acting as the president of KLİMİK since 2017. He was a member of the Ministry of Health, COVID-19 Scientific Advisory Board between February-October, 2020. 
 
He has been the editor-in-chief of the official journal of KLİMİK. He has 54 journal articles and 32 international presentations, two of which are oral. 
Immunization, healthcare-associated infections, epidemiology of infections, infections in immunocompromised patients (i.e. organ recipients, cancer patients), antimicrobial resistance, flu and emerging infections are among his scientific interests.
